Partition splits the stack instead of losing it: when the Digimon and the listed cards in its sources would be removed by your opponent or a battle, you play each specified card for free. One big body becomes two or more smaller ones, which is a miserable trade for whoever spent removal on you. It's all or nothing though, since you can't choose to play only some of the specified cards.
16-29-1. <Partition> is a keyword effect. When a Digimon with this effect and 1 of each of the specified cards in its digivolution cards would be removed from the battle area other than by one of your effects or a battle, you may play 1 of each of the specified cards from the digivolution cards without paying their costs. This is shown on cards using text such as "<Partition (blue Lv.4 & green Lv.4)>." 16-29-2. <Partition> is an immediate-type effect that triggers "when a Digimon with this effect and 1 of each of the specified cards in its digivolution cards would be removed from the battle area other than by one of your effects or a battle." (For details, refer to 15-8-5 "Immediate-Type Effects") 16-29-3. The processing from <Partition> is optional. 16-29-4. When <Partition> is activated, 1 of each of the specified cards is played from digivolution cards without paying their costs. A player can't choose to only play one or some of the specified cards.
