Can this card's inherited effect activate when an opponent's effect would place a Digimon with this card in its digivolution cards in another of my Digimon's digivolution cards?
Yes, it can. This effect can interrupt the removal of a card from the battle area, therefore by deleting 1 of your other Digimon with the [D-Brigade], this card will be prevented from being placed in your other Digimon's digivolution cards.

What does this card's "When [...] would [...] leave the battle area" mean, exactly?
"When [...] would leave the battle area" refers to when this Digimon is placed in the trash, returned to the hand/deck, placed in the security stack, moved to the breeding area, or placed under another card.
